Description
The BonFeu BonBiza Open is the standard-size fire pit in the BonBiza range, built around an 80cm plancha and finished with an open plinth base for storing logs right where you cook. It's the fixed, stand-alone answer for gardens that don't need a full mobile outdoor kitchen but still want serious plancha cooking.
Cooking on the plancha
The 80cm steel plate sits 6mm thick over an open wood fire, so heat spreads outward from the centre rather than sitting flat across the surface. That means you can sear at the hottest point in the middle while vegetables or delicate fish cook more gently towards the edge — genuinely useful for cooking a full meal at once rather than one dish at a time. The included BBQ grill grate adds classic open-flame grilling to the mix whenever you want it.
Somewhere to keep the logs
The open plinth beneath the fire bowl is the main thing that separates this from the plain BonBiza — instead of a simple pedestal stand, you get a proper log store built into the base, so firewood stays dry, tidy and close to hand rather than stacked elsewhere in the garden.
Corten Steel or Black — choose your finish
The BonBiza Open comes in two finishes. Corten steel is left to weather naturally outdoors, developing its own rust-brown patina over time that protects the steel beneath and gives it more character the longer it's left out — no maintenance needed, and no two ever look quite the same. Black is the cleaner, more uniform option if you'd rather the colour stayed consistent from day one rather than changing with the seasons. Cooking performance, dimensions and build are identical either way — it's purely a question of the look you want in your garden.
Comparing it to the BonBiza Island
Both the BonBiza Open and the BonBiza Island share the same 80cm plancha, so cooking performance is identical. The difference is in the base: the Island rolls on wheels and includes worktop space for prep, while the Open is a fixed piece with its plinth dedicated purely to log storage — pick whichever suits how you actually use your garden.
